Spain scraped through to the Euro 2012 final after defeating Portugal in a penalty shootout on Wednesday.
With the scores locked at 0-0 after 120 minutes, Cesc Fabregas struck the winning penalty to clinch the 4-2 shootout win at Donetsk s Donbass Arena.
Bruno Alves struck the crossbar with his penalty attempt that ultimately proved costly for the Portuguese.
Both Spain s Xabi Alonso and Portugal s Joao Moutinho had their opening penalties saved before the sides traded goals.
Alves failed to convert with the score at 3-2, allowing Fabregas to send Spain through to their third straight final at a major international tournament.
Spain will meet either Germany or Italy in the final at Kiev s Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
