While Lyon may not have qualified for the l…

Liverpool step up Traore pursuit

Liverpool have made contact with Wolverhampton Wanderers over a potential transfer of Adama Traore, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The winger has drawn plenty attention over the course of the season with his blistering pace and dazzling dribbling ability, not least those of previous title holders Manchester City, against whom he scored on both occasions twice at the Etihad. All told, he scored six goals and assisted further 12 in 45 appearances in 2019/20 so far. His performances have been vital in the successes Wolves have had under Nuno Espirito Santo. They are currently in sixth place and are battling to secure a European spot for the second consecutive season; even the Champions League doesn t seem impossible, especially if City s European ban is upheld by the Court of Arbit…

River Plate 2-0 Boca Juniors: Defending champs draw first blood in Copa Libertadores semis

River Plate moved a step closer to back-to-back Copa Libertadores titles after defeating bitter rivals Boca Juniors 2-0 in the first leg of their semi-final clash.

Defending champions River and Boca are going head-to-head in a rematch of last year s controversial final, which the former claimed 5-3 on aggregate.

The second leg of the all-Argentinian 2018 decider had to be rearranged and moved to Real Madrid s Santiago Bernabeu in December after the match was twice suspended in November due to an attack on Boca s team bus by supporters.

Pitted against each other in the semis, hosts River drew first blood thanks to Rafael Santos Borre s seventh-minute penalty and an Ignacio Fernandez goal in the 70th minute on Tuesday.

Boca s woes were compounded by a stop…

Pele hit back, saying: I don t understand a few things. When he did his first television programme (in 2005) in Ar…

PFA chief criticises Chelsea’s approach of ‘warehousing’ players

Professional Footballers Association chief Gordon Taylor has criticised Chelsea s transfer approach of warehousing players following the departures of Juan Cuadrado (Juventus), Marco van Ginkel (Stoke City), and Victor Moses (West Ham United) this summer.

At the moment, the Blues have 33 players out on loan, including former Germany international winger Marko Marin, who last played for Chelsea on 4 April 2013.

Moreover, the most popular loan destination for Chelsea players is Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem, who have taken the likes of Danilo Pantić, Dominic Solanke, Izzy Brown, Lewis Baker, and Nathan on loan for the 2015/16 season.

It s a bit of a worry with so many Chelsea players out on loan. It s almost a warehousing of players. You …

Cagliari 1 AC Milan 1: Higuain´s first Rossoneri goal earns a point

Gonzalo Higuain s first AC Milan goal salvaged a 1-1 draw at Cagliari but Gennaro Gattuso s men are already falling off the Serie A pace.

Making his first appearance after serving a doping ban, Joao Pedro gave Cagliari an early lead when converting a rebound that Gianluigi Donnarumma perhaps should have saved.

Giacomo Bonaventura missed two great first-half chances to equalise but Higuain hit the target at Sardegna Arena on Sunday, in the process getting off the mark following his move from Juventus.

However, having thrown away a lead to lose at Napoli after their opener against Genoa was postponed, Milan languish in the bottom half after taking only four points from their first three games of the season.

Cagliari took the lead inside four minutes, Don…

Tuchel explains why he likes Neymar at number 10

Thomas Tuchel is keen to continue using Neymar as a number 10 for Paris Saint-Germain to involve him in more attacking plays.

Neymar has primarily operated from the left since joining PSG from Barcelona in August 2017, but this season Tuchel has at times deployed him in a central playmaking role.

The Brazilian started on the wing against Rennes on Sunday but was shifted to the middle in the second half and played a key role in the Thomas Meunier and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting s goals.

On Tuesday Tuchel explained why he likes to use Neymar in that area when addressing the media ahead of PSG s Ligue 1 clash with Reims.

Of course he likes to be there and we like to have him in the number 10 position because he is involved in every attack, not only from the l…
